I needed something quiet, as this server is going to be at home, and on 24/7, and so I decided to build a custom server to keep noise levels down, using the following components:
AMD X2 5000+ Energy Efficient Processor
4Gb Corsair XMS PC-6400 Memory
Two Seagate 7200 Hard Drives
FoxConn Av6 Motherboard with OnBoard Chipset features.
Two Gigabit LAN Cards
The intention is to run a host operating system, and a virtualiation product, to host multiple guest operating systems.
